A new study from the Netherlands found that pregnant women consume the highest levels of omega-3 fatty acid DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) have children with better motor function in old age.

Dutch researchers followed 300 children over seven years and compared their abilities with your hand-eye coordination with the amount of DHA measured in umbilical cord blood. The researchers found that children who receive more than DHA was moving in the womb is not "more", which means they havedo not fidget or walk, but moves "better", that is to say that they are better able to tie a shoe, throw a ball, buttons and zippers, and use your hands to the music and the arts and crafts were. The study found that children have benefited from DHA, regardless of whether they are born before term, and that DHA has been good for the boys and girls.

Not the children who were exposed to more DHA in utero had a higher IQ than children who did not, but by 7 years, tended to have more vocabulary, speaker moreAre phrases, and higher scores on tests of language comprehension. In addition, mothers who had higher DHA during pregnancy are less likely to suffer from postpartum depression and recovered faster from birth.

The results of this study are consistent with some others. A team of clinical research in the United States has found that babies who were more DHA in their formula was bigger and heavier, had a sharper and more advanced language skills at age 3 and 3Months. Another U.S. study, also funded by Abbott Labs, has found that premature babies tend to talk about age 14 months if they were received (fatty acids found in eggs) powder supplemented with DHA and arachidonic acid.

Just as pregnant women should get their DHA?

The omega-
The richest source of DHA are the two "F", flax and fish. Flaxseed oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, such as cold-water fish. There are also some DHA in canolaOil, soybean oil, eggs, offal and most Americans probably meet sausage and weiners (not that I need a steady diet of both recommended during pregnancy). Two 3-1/2 oz (100 g) servings of fish per week are sufficient, if the diet, other foods rich in DHA. Algae, as you may know, is also an excellent source of DHA.

The most widely used supplement of DHA is fish oil. Distilled fish oil does not contain heavy metals, which sometimes fish. The new additionExpectations Lipil also examined for toxins. Neuromins, however, is the vegetarian alternative.

DHA is the number one component of brain tissue, it is not hard to see that DHA is quite important for brain health. Just do not overdo it. A minimum of 200 mg of DHA per day can make a difference, and you can get this dose safe, inexpensive, without upsetting the digestive system or your diet.
